Remarkable Rocks in Kangaroo Island. Amazing too that I can still find this photo after all these years. It was taken during my undergraduate days in Australia, some 30 years ago (the 1990s)!
I have recently learnt that in 2019, some of the rocks were fractured in the serious bushfires of 2019-2020. Since then, Flinders Chase National Park has been closed. It was partially reopened on July 4, 2020, with limited access to certain areas while recovery and regeneration efforts continued. The park is still in recovery, but many trails, including popular sites like Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, are accessible again. Notably, the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail, which was heavily damaged, officially reopened in December 2023. The park’s new visitor centre, which emphasizes sustainability, is set to be fully completed by 2024.
Here is a short virtual tour of this beautiful and truly remarkable place! .. (pun fully intended 😉)
Wow! Great share.
